Overview Ready to move your career forward? As an experienced Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a modern, well-maintained fleet of vehicles. You’ll help customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.

As a Technician I, you are a respected lead at your location—a master technician who mentors others while working independently on major and minor repairs, performing diagnostics and completing maintenance tasks.

Your skills and experience are recognized. You’ll work on a variety of equipment from multiple manufacturers, receive ongoing training, and gain exposure to cutting‑edge maintenance technology.

Main Responsibilities

Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers

Perform preventive maintenance on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision and timely execution

Repair and troubleshoot major components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials, including complete assemblies, turbochargers, and fuel system components

Keep your work area clean and safe

Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics

Learn new skills through Penske’s technician training

Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor‑trailer maintenance

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred

Specialized training and experience in diagnosing/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)

Experienced using all tools of the trade, including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, and hand and power tools

Valid driver’s license required, CDL preferred

Strong problem‑solving skills

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Team‑player and able to work well in a group environment

Willing to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions

Basic computer skills

Adherence to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies

Full attendance required as an essential function

Compliance with DOT regulations and maintenance of a current driver qualification file

Willingness to travel as necessary within the district for customer sites, training, and other duties

Pens mentioned experience: background screening and drug screening required

Physical Requirements

Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during scheduled work

Use hands daily to grasp, reach, touch, handle tools, or operate controls

Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms

Operate safely in all weather conditions

Navigate a work environment with large trucks moving through the workplace

Lift or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly and up to 100 lbs (45 kg) occasionally; push/pull truck tires exceeding 100 lbs as needed
