Position Summary The Press Brake Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal components according to blueprints and specifications within a dimensional tolerance of 0.010 inches. Experience with Amada Press Brake machines is preferred. This role requires precision, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate press brake machines (RG, HRB, & HG) to produce metal parts according to engineering drawings and job specifications.
Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders to determine machine setup and production requirements.
Select, install, and align appropriate tooling, dies, and fixtures for each job.
Perform first‑piece inspections and ensure all parts meet dimensional and visual quality standards.
Adjust machine settings and offsets as needed to maintain consistent quality and efficiency.
Maintain accurate production records, including setup times, quantities, and inspection results.
Monitor machine operation and report malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor or maintenance department.
Handle material safely and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Follow all safety protocols and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Education & Experience
Strong understanding of metal types, thicknesses, and bend allowances.
Basic math and measurement skills using calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
Skills & Competencies
2+ years of experience operating a press brake (required). Experience operating an Amada press brake is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and setup sheets.
Experience with CNC controls (e.g., HG, HRB, RG or newer systems) – strong plus.
Work Environment
Manufacturing shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
Use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection required.
May involve repetitive tasks and physical activity throughout the shift.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Frequent bending, reaching, and manual handling of sheet metal materials.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
