Job Overview
Elite Construction is seeking a Residential/Commercial Electrician Helper to assist with our many commercial and residential projects in the Valdosta/Thomasville/Tifton area. This is an entry‑level position that provides hands‑on experience and a stepping stone to a formal apprenticeship or a full electrician career.
Responsibilities
Assist licensed electricians with basic, less-skilled duties to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
Transport tools, equipment, and supplies to the worksite and lift heavy items.
Prepare and clean work areas; dispose of waste and sweep the area.
Measure, cut, strip insulation, and bend wire and conduit using hand and power tools.
Support installation of electrical systems, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, outlets, and fans under direct supervision.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
Help identify short circuits or inspect units for loose connections or broken insulation using a test meter and hand tools.
Perform physical labor such as digging trenches, drilling holes, and working from ladders or in cramped spaces.
Practice and comprehend safe work procedures.
Participate in job site safety activities.
Keep track of any work requested or completed beyond scope or contract and report it to supervisor before any extra work is performed.
Communicate effectively and maintain a neat appearance.
Run a commercial job site.
Qualifications
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (car required).
Physical stamina to lift, carry, bend, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
Familiarity with hand and power tools.
Strong ability to follow directions and work well under supervision.
Willingness to learn the trade and interest in electrical systems.
Basic problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
Previous experience in the electrical or construction field is preferred but not mandatory.
Physical Demands Repetitive shoulder, arm, hand, wrist, and finger motion; lifting up to 50 lbs; standing for long periods; walking, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, squatting, climbing, kneeling, reaching over the head, and twisting. Must be able to work overtime and occasional weekend work.
