Job Summary
The Electrical Leadman is a working foreman who leads a crew of electricians and apprentices in the installation of electrical systems for new single-family homes. The role combines leadership responsibilities with hands‑on electrical work. This position is hourly and non‑exempt, eligible for overtime in accordance with federal and state labor laws. The Leadman ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with IES Residential standards, project specifications, and applicable codes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Crew Operations:
Oversee and participate in daily electrical tasks including layout, rough‑in, and trim‑out phases of residential new construction.
Ensure Code Compliance:
Perform and inspect work in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local regulations, and project blueprints.
Safety Oversight:
Enforce all IES Residential safety protocols and OSHA requirements on‑site.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
Identify and resolve electrical issues accurately to prevent delays or rework.
Mentorship:
Provide on‑the‑job training, guidance, and support to apprentices and less experienced electricians.
Communication:
Coordinate effectively with project managers, superintendents, builders, and team members regarding job progress, changes, or issues.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate timekeeping, work orders, material usage, and daily production logs.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure installations are completed to IES quality standards and ready for inspection within project timelines.
Jobsite Management:
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years in residential electrical installation with at least 1 year in a leadership or crew lead role.
Current Texas Residential Wireman or Journeyman Electrician license required.
Strong understanding of NEC, blueprint reading, material takeoffs, and residential wiring practices.
Excellent troubleshooting, leadership, and communication skills.
Must pass background check and drug screening. Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and climb ladders for extended periods.
Must be comfortable working in outdoor construction environments in Texas weather conditions.
