Mobile Diesel & Trailer Experienced Technician
Job Description We’re a division of Hinton Transportation Investments, a family-owned leader in heavy-duty truck and trailer parts, and we’re expanding our service territory. The Mobile Diesel Mechanic/Trailer Tech position is a traveling mechanic role. You will work from home, stay on call, and drive to customer sites for on-site repairs of commercial heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
Responsibilities
Operate as an experienced Level II or Level III Diesel Technician.
Interact with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
Drive to work sites to diagnose and complete complex repairs on heavy‑duty trucks and trailers.
Read job orders, observe and listen to vehicles in operation to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures.
Apply specialized tools and documented procedures to diagnose and complete repairs, including parts and tool preparation.
Complete required documents such as service worksheets, timesheets, and warranty claims.
Maintain company service truck, conduct safety checks and pre/post trip inspections.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
Strong professionalism when working with customers.
Ability to work with no direct on‑site supervision.
Ability to prioritize workload and time allocation.
Ability to carry out full diagnostics using diagnostic tools on different product types; experience with Cummins Insite Diagnostic Tool.
Experience performing work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
Ability to properly use parts books, service manuals, and QuickServe online.
Experience using Cummins EDS System.
Education and Certifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
5+ years of experience working on heavy‑duty vehicles.
State Certified Diesel Mechanic Certification preferred.
Post‑Secondary Certificate or training as a Diesel Technician.
Cummins Certified Master Diesel Technician/Mechanic preferred.
Experience with Ottawa/Kalmar products.
Physical Requirements
Must lift/carry 30 lbs frequently.
Must lift/carry 50 lbs occasionally.
Must lift/carry 100 lbs during team lifts infrequently.
