Mechanic III with CDL/HazMat

Travel to various locations as a field mechanic to diagnose and perform complex and difficult maintenance, repair work and services on vehicles, machinery and equipment in the field and on job-sites; conduct visual inspections and perform preventative maintenance and fueling of off-site heavy duty field equipment.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED supplemented by two (2) years technical training in automotive maintenance and mechanical repair; and
Three (3) years experience in minor and major automotive maintenance and mechanical repair of a variety of vehicles and equipment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) with a Hazardous Materials Endorsement (H). Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Methods, equipment and materials used in the overhaul, repair and maintenance of automobiles, buses and heavy equipment
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
Operational characteristics of electrical, hydraulic and foam systems
Methods, equipment and materials used in the overhaul, repair and maintenance of automobiles, and heavy equipment
Perform the most complex and difficult mechanical maintenance and repair work
Operate a variety of automotive and mechanical repair equipment and machines relative to assigned area of responsibility
Diagnose problems and repair automotive, hydraulic and/or other mechanical equipment
Perform minor adjustments to gas and diesel engines
Perform major and minor tune-ups
Perform the most complex diagnostic and repair services
Repair electronic components
Work independently in the absence of supervision
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Communicate clearly and concisely
Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
