Diesel Mechanic Trainee Entry Level – Ryder System, Inc. Position Description: Immediately hiring a permanent full‑time Diesel Technician Trainee. This entry level role does not require prior experience.

Benefits

Diesel Tech Trainee positions pay each week.

Hourly Pay: $21.50 per hour.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, Weekends off.

Second Shift: 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm.

No experience needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Zero to one year of mechanical experience with diesel engines preferred.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Proficiency in written and verbal English communication.

Demonstrated customer service skills.

Strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly.

Work independently and as part of a team.

Professional representation of Ryder to employees and customers.

Time‑management and priority‑setting skills.

Track record of performance and good attendance.

Strong personal accountability and proven results.

Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office environment.

Beginner knowledge of machines, tools, repairs, and maintenance.

Beginner knowledge of shop management systems.

Valid commercial driver license (CDL) CLASS A preferred.

DOT safety regulated position; regulated tech.

Safety‑sensitive position; age and work‑hour requirements determined by state law.

Regulated Tech Requirements

Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.

Pass a Ryder drug test.

Pass a DOT physical.

Pass a Ryder road test.

Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

Move heavy‑duty vehicles in and out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or rental shop.

Wash and detail vehicles using manual or automated equipment; fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles properly while following all safety policies; record fuel activity and maintain proper fuel and DEF inventories and reconciliation.

Perform multi‑point inspection on inbound units, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, lights, windows, tires, and refrigeration units; report issues to shop.

Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned.

Attend and complete all Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments, including hands‑on and online training.

Complete Service Island Training modules: multi‑point inspection (hand‑held), vehicle fueling and washing, environmental safety, spill response, safe driving, and 6S organization.

Complete Technician I Training: preventive maintenance, tire and wheel, service bay tools.

Complete Technician II Training: HD electrical, air and hydraulic brakes.

Perform other duties as assigned.
