Paralegal 2 – Consolidated Public Retirement Board – Kanawha Co. Nature of Work Assists the agency's attorney or administrative superior by conducting research of legal sources such as statutes, regulations, legal opinions, and related documents necessary for the preparation of briefs, pleadings, and appeals. Maintains records of all cases before counsel. Keeps abreast of changes in agency or departmental laws, rules, and regulations, as well as state, federal, and local laws relating to the area of assignment. Composes routine correspondence.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Successful completion of a Paralegal (Legal Assistant) training program.

Substitution: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or four (4) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in a legal setting which required performing legal research, reading and interpreting laws and other legal authorities, and preparing legal documents, under the supervision of an attorney, may substitute for the required training.

Combination of training and experience may also substitute through an established formula for the required training.
