Legal Litigation Secretary (Insurance Defense / Professional Liability)

$75,000–$85,000

small litigation firm
in Claremont is seeking an experienced
Legal Litigation Secretary
to support a busy practice focused on
professional liability / insurance defense-style litigation . This is a fully onsite role supporting multiple attorneys in a fast‑paced environment where team members are expected to be proactive and self‑sufficient.
What You’ll Do
Provide day‑to‑day litigation administrative support from case inception through trial
Manage attorney calendars and case deadlines
(no centralized docketing department)
Prepare, revise, proofread, and format legal documents and correspondence
Handle
state and federal court filings
(e‑filing and related procedures);
appellate filings
are a plus
Maintain electronic files and organize case materials within a
case management system
Coordinate service of process, subpoenas, hearings, depositions, and other case logistics
Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, vendors, and opposing counsel
Assist with additional administrative tasks to keep matters moving efficiently
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED required (additional education is a plus)
5+ years
experience as a Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant
3+ years
litigation support experience strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience with
state and federal filing
and knowledge of relevant rules/local procedures
Strong calendaring skills and comfort owning deadlines and follow‑ups
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and proofreading skills
Proficiency with
Microsoft Office
(Word, Outlook, Excel) and general office technology
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and maintain confidentiality
Professional communication style and strong client‑service mindset
Nice to Have
Familiarity with
case management software
(experience with TrialWorks or similar systems is helpful)
Legal research experience
Collaborative office setting supporting a small team
Requires comfort working with less administrative “backup” than large firms
