Brief Description As a Repack Mechanic focused on packaging operations, you will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high‑speed packaging equipment to ensure efficient and uninterrupted production in a highly regulated food processing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on packaging equipment such as form‑fill‑seal machines, vacuum sealers, conveyors, case erectors, checkweighers, metal detectors, and labelers.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to minimize unplanned downtime and ensure continuous operations.
Maintain compliance with Ready‑to‑Eat (RTE) facility standards, including strict hygiene, sanitation, and allergen control protocols.
Support equipment changeovers, calibrations, and line setups based on production requirements.
Work closely with packaging operators and production leads to identify recurring issues and implement long‑term solutions.
Document all maintenance activities using CMMS, including work orders, parts usage, and time tracking.
Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and food safety policies (GMP, HACCP, SSOPs).
Assist with installation, commissioning, and upgrades of new packaging equipment or systems.
Support root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Participate in daily maintenance meetings and shift hand‑offs to ensure consistent communication and accountability.
Qualifications
2+ years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or packaging environment; RTE facility experience strongly preferred.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including working knowledge of sensors, motors, drives, pneumatics, and basic PLC logic.
Familiarity with CMMS platforms and standard documentation practices.
Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation requirements, especially in RTE operations.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities under pressure, and support a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment.
Willingness to work swing shift, weekends, or overtime as production demands require.
