Bargaining Unit Announcement: This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
Contingent Upon Funding: Not Applicable
Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8‑5)

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates and maintains campus steam, chilled water, and electricity production systems.
Troubleshoots and repairs building distribution systems including low pressure steam distribution, heat exchangers, hot and cold deck systems, air handlers, and pneumatic and digital controls.
Performs HVAC system inspections and preventive maintenance per manufacturer recommendations.
Replaces major components in conjunction with central energy management and control system operators.
Conducts seasonal overhauls and instructs repair teams during transition of systems between heating and cooling.
Monitors and adjusts system set points and output using remote computer links to the building's programmable logic controls.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or higher degree.
Valid unrestricted driver’s license.
New Mexico Journeyman’s Refrigeration License.
EPA Universal Refrigerant Handler Card.
Experience with HVAC system maintenance and repair (preferred).
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
Environment: Moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises.
Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity; heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
Risk: Exposure to potentially dangerous materials; requires safety precautions and PPE.
