Core Responsibilities
Diagnostics: Identify mechanical and electrical issues using manual inspections and computerized diagnostic equipment (e.g., scan tools).
Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled services such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid level checks, and filter replacements.
Repairs: Replace worn parts, including brake pads, spark plugs, wheel bearings, fuel systems, and sensors.
System Overhauls: Conduct more complex repairs on engines, transmissions, steering, and suspension systems.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of work performed, parts used, and future maintenance recommendations.
Customer Communication: Explain technical problems, repair options, and cost estimates to customers in an easy-to-understand manner.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Technical Aptitude: Deep knowledge of vehicle systems, including internal combustion engines, electrical/electronic systems, and computerized controls.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy parts (up to 50 lbs or more), and work in confined or uncomfortable positions.
Manual Dexterity: Strong hand-eye coordination for working with small components like screws and sensors.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is standard; employer prefer a postsecondary training in automotive technology.
Certification: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is desired not required.
