We are looking for hard-working, reliable and safety minded individuals to join our team as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. In this role you will be responsible for the timely and effective maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair of various brands and types of heavy equipment. This will include electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnostics, parts inventory and ordering, report writing, and scheduling. This position is based at our Savannah yard, but will also travel locally for maintenance and repair work at other SA Recycling yards.
This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Responsibilities for an Equipment Mechanic
Conducts basic to moderately complex diagnostic, troubleshooting, and service and repair tasks for fuel, electrical, mechanical, brake, and cooling and hydraulic systems on a wide range of equipment.
Completes routine maintenance tasks (oil and filter changes, lubrication, brake, etc.) on all Heavy Equipment per manufacturer and SA Recycling recommendations.
Maintains accurate service records on all work performed.
Order and maintain spare parts inventory.
Interact with yard General Managers to schedule routine or emergency maintenance or repairs.
Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly working area.
Safe and proper use of assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools.
Performs all tasks fully within SA Recycling’s Safety and Environmental practices and procedures.
Qualifications for an Equipment Mechanic
Vocational/Technical degree highly desired.
Hydraulic, electrical, and diesel maintenance experience highly desired.
Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
Must be willing to complete, and successfully pass a drug screen, physical and background check.
Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus

Equipment & Tools: Yard equipment, electrical Safety equipment, hand tools, and PPE specialized for electricians.
