Who we are looking for:
The Diesel Mechanic is expected to handle diagnosis and repairs of customer and auction vehicles and equipment, as assigned by the shop and truck department and maintain auction fleet, while assisting other mechanics to obtain optimal performance.
What you will do:
Consult with truck department and read work orders to evaluate the tasks required
Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections on diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy‑duty equipment
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems with moderate complexity
Service engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, suspension, cooling systems, and drivetrains
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including starters, alternators, lighting, and basic wiring
Utilize diagnostic tools, service manuals, and schematics to identify and correct issues
Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high quality and safety standards
Accurately document work performed, parts used, and labor hours in maintenance systems
Perform road tests and equipment inspections to verify repairs
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Follow all OSHA, DOT, EPA, and company safety policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
What you will need:
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Minimum High School/GED (Technical or trade school preferred)
3 years’ experience in diesel mechanical repair
Advanced knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and diesel engine mechanisms
In‑depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
Heavy machinery repair experience (forklifts, skid steers, loaders)
Excellent problem‑solving skills
Keen attention to detail
Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics
Proficiency in diesel engine diagnostic software
Effective collaboration and communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
