Kilpatrick, a large international law firm, is seeking a Trusts & Estates Paralegal for our Corporate Department in our Chicago, Atlanta, Raleigh, Winston, Dallas, Houston, New York and Washington, DC offices. Under the supervision of attorneys, the trust‑and‑estate paralegal will provide support for all types of corporate and commercial transactions and operate as part of a team to provide a high level of service to internal and external clients.
Essential Job Functions
Responsible for daily trust administration for a variety of clients (e.g., properly manage accounts, prepare letters, transfer forms, etc.)
Assist in drafting estate planning documents including wills, powers of attorney, and both basic and advanced trusts.
Help manage and organize estate and probate files.
Prepare accounting and financial statements.
Docket court documents.
File and obtain records with courts and government offices.
Proofread documents for spelling, grammatical, and formatting errors.
Communicate directly with clients to provide updates or assist with accounting and tax needs.
Knowledge/Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Paralegal certification preferred.
Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience with progressive responsibility in managing client trust accounts.
Law‑firm experience preferred.
High proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, Lexis/Nexis, and other internet research tools.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
Creative problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and take initiative to move projects to conclusion.
Maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations.
Reliable and dependable team player.
Maintain confidentiality of client information.
Perform well under pressure.
This is a full‑time, regular position with a multi‑faced health‑benefit package that includes medical, dental, and vision. The firm also offers life insurance, short‑term disability plans, and retirement plans in addition to holidays and paid time off. Hybrid work schedules combine in‑office work days with remote work days. The pay range for this position is $42.41 to $80.56 per hour, depending on location.
