HVAC Mechanic (Cert/Lic) – Duke Raleigh

Job Summary Perform journeyman‑level work in the installation, maintenance, modification, overhaul, service, and repair of all types of air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment.
Hours
Week 1: 7 pm – 7:30 am (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Week 2: 7 pm – 7:30 am (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Repeating schedule
Work Performed Install, maintain, adjust, modify, and overhaul refrigeration and air conditioning systems by interpreting blueprints, manufacturer specifications, written and verbal instructions. Make initial settings and final adjustments, modify existing installations, troubleshoot, repair or calibrate reciprocating and centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, duct‑less systems, electric blast coils, immersion coils, pumps, fans, starters, pneumatic and electric controls, electrostatic filters, domestic refrigerators, laboratory ultra‑low‑temperature boxes, walk‑in coolers and freezers, fountain equipment, and ice makers. Charge all refrigeration equipment, follow preventive maintenance schedules, recommend major overhauls, and provide technical guidance to lower‑level personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Work with blueprints, schematics, and sketches.
Perform HVAC maintenance and repair.
Provide supervision and technical guidance.
Minimum Qualifications Education High‑school education with coursework in skilled crafts. EPA CFC certification required.
Experience Four years of broad‑based experience in charging small refrigeration appliances, changing compressors, belts, and valves, and adjusting and calibrating temperature and humidity controls. Equivalent combinations of relevant education and/or experience accepted.
