Job Summary Estimator will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of estimates for project bids and proposals and will also be involved in the day-to-day activities of construction. This position will be based out of the SGS’s home office or jobsite. Essential Functions Quantify project components. EX: (Materials, Equipment, Labor, Subs) Visit project to understand site conditions/restrictions. Work with the estimating team bidding the project to build the estimate, then price assigned items. Communicating and collaborating with the designers through the Design Build process to optimize the construction process. Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate. Provide accurate take-off. Prepare electronic bid files. Work on a preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project. Leading the team to close the estimates. Contact subcontractors, suppliers, and specialty services for quotes. Analyzing and entering quotes into Lump Sum or Budgetary proposals. Coordinating with subcontractors about prospective work. Required Skills & Experience: Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Hard Dollar and Scheduling experience is strongly preferred. Strongly preferred: HCSS Heavybid, Bluebeam, Auto Cad, Topcon, Microstation. Good working knowledge of civil construction techniques and production rates. Knowledge of construction sequencing for schedule development. Flexibility with relocation for assigned projects. Minimum 5 years of experience as an Estimator working in all aspects of large heavy civil construction projects (Structures, Bridges, Railroad, Piles, Underground Utilities, Site Stabilization, Earthwork and Concrete Paving) Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or similar discipline is preferred.
