General Purpose of Job Geospatial Specialist I
– Responsible for delivering GIS technical services, data management, and map production. Primary responsibilities include GIS services for internal and external requests, GIS data support, and maintenance of electric, fiber, and land base assets in GIS.
Geospatial Specialist II
– In addition to the duties of I, responsible for tracking and reporting foreign attachments and permits, processing easements, maintaining municipal annexations, and supporting electric connectivity models.
Geospatial Specialist III
– Provides functional application support for GIS technology (GE Smallworld, ESRI, FME, and mobile geospatial applications). Responsibilities include administration, end‑user support, design, configuration, testing, integration with business applications, and subject‑matter expertise in GIS connectivity networks.
Minimum Required Qualifications And Competencies Education
Geospatial Specialist I & II – Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent; Preferred: Bachelor’s in Geography, Computer Science, or Engineering.
Geospatial Specialist III – Minimum: Bachelor’s in Geography, Computer Science, or related engineering major; Preferred: Bachelor’s in Geography, Engineering, or IT. Job‑related experience may substitute for required education on a year‑for‑year basis.
Experience
Geospatial Specialist I & II – Minimum: 2 to 4 years in a GIS environment with mapping. Preferred: ESRI ArcGIS and/or GE Smallworld, AutoCAD, FME, SQL, and experience within an electric utility or related industry.
Geospatial Specialist III – Minimum: 4 years with ESRI and/or GE Smallworld. Preferred: AutoCAD, FME, SQL; GPS and field data collection; GIS landbases, easements, joint‑use attachments; electric utility or GIS connectivity network experience.
Other Requirements
Ability to operate office equipment (personal computer, printer, copier, telephone).
Availability for irregular hours, flexible scheduling, and emergency reporting.
Normal work hours: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday.
Successful completion of pre‑employment background check, physical, and drug screen.
