Union Position
This is an IBEW union position supporting first shift at NASA Langley Research Center. You will report to a single location, will not travel, and will receive a work vehicle while at the center.
Job Responsibilities
Supports the Maintenance Services group
Performs regularly scheduled maintenance on heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment
Checks units for damage, wear, and evidence of breakdown
Starts equipment and verifies proper control function and efficient operation
Performs other related duties as required

Essential Functions & Requirements
US citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Six years of experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training in a designated field, craft, or trade, documented by a certificate or diploma from a reputable organization.
Must effectively communicate and follow instructions.
Exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task.
Valid Real‑ID compliant identification (www.dhs.gov/real-id).
A valid driver’s license is required.
Must successfully complete and maintain a NASA background check.
Must work effectively in a team atmosphere and exhibit professional behavior that enhances productivity.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate and not pose a safety or risk hazard.
Must be able to balance scope, schedule, and budget to ensure program success.
Physical & Work Environment Office environment: 5% of time. Test environment (high noise levels, hazardous materials, explosives, chemicals, industrial facilities): 90% of time. Travel between facilities and during test operations: 10% of time. Must follow all safety rules and regulations without exception.
Physical requirements include visual and hands‑on interaction with mechanical systems, ability to walk, stand, bend, twist, sit, climb, crawl in confined spaces, and lift up to 35 lbs. Requires good vision and color distinction.
Equipment and machines used: standard HVAC mechanic’s toolbox (manifold gauge set, multimeter, clamp‑on ammeter), personal computers, and safety personal protective equipment. Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, copier) used 10% of the time.
Regular attendance is mandatory (100%). Overtime or work outside the normal shift may be required (20%).
