Construction Laborer

Job Summary
The construction laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at general building and highway/heavy construction projects. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools, clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials. The position may assist other craft workers.
Responsibilities
Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in general or heavy/highway construction projects.
Shovel bituminous concrete (asphalt) into construction areas.
Excavate and fill trenches and ditches.
Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
Perform materials handling and storage.
Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
Provide assistance to foremen and other supervisors as needed, mixing, pouring and spreading materials, erecting and stripping form work.
Perform traffic control and flagging duties.
Operate a variety of equipment while adhering to company safety procedures and practices.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid drivers license.
2+ years of heavy highway experience; roads, highways, bridges, DOT, or site work project experience.
Valid CDL is a plus.
OSHA 10‑hour training or flagger certification is a plus.
