Diesel Mechanic – 2nd Shift Location: Jackson, MI Salary: $28–$34 per hour

Responsibilities

Perform repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services

Perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment

Work under limited supervision and select from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks

Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures

Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs

Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns

Conduct annual safety checks on vehicles

Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times

Assist other mechanics in the completion of project work

Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience

Must have own tools

Active applicable certificates, licenses, or registrations are a plus

Must have a valid driver’s license

Must be at least 18 years of age

Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations

Able to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check

Requires motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday

Requires exerting physical effort in handling heavy objects throughout the workday

Exposure to physical occupational risks (cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, etc.)

Exposure to environment involving dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often

Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future

Physical & Work Environment

Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear

Occasionally required to stand and walk

Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Sporadic local travel required
