HVAC Mechanic – MARION COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Base pay: $22.50/hr – $27.50/hr (actual pay based on skills and experience).

Position Summary This is skilled mechanical work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of air-conditioning equipment. The employee installs and repairs air-conditioning equipment according to blueprints and schematic drawings, assembles structural and functional components, and purchases necessary supplies and materials. Work is performed under the direction of the assigned administrator and may be inspected during and upon completion.
Position Qualifications
Education – Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma.
Experience – Three (3) years verifiable work experience in the operation and maintenance of assigned area.
Computer Skills – Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology as required for the position.
Certificates and Licenses – Valid Florida Class D driver's license or will obtain within thirty (30) work days. Must be certified by the E.P.A. for handling of CFC’s.
Other Requirements – Complete set of job‑related hand tools required. May be required to work on scaffolds, stepladders, and high extension ladders.
Working Conditions
Indoors/Outdoors – The worker is subject to both environmental conditions.
Activities occur inside and outside.

Inspect and maintain all air-conditioning equipment.
Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine location, size, capacity, and type of component needed to repair the unit.
Install new air-conditioning units.
Purchase material and parts necessary to repair equipment.
Recharge air-conditioning systems with refrigerants as necessary.
Overhaul compressors, condensers, and other equipment as needed.
May provide guidance to co-workers in proper procedures and safety.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Communication – Ability to communicate effectively with others orally and in writing; exhibit good listening and comprehension skills; keep others adequately informed; select and use appropriate communication methods.

Physical Requirements Light Work – Required to push, pull or lift up to 40+ pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
