Student Transportation of America is seeking a qualified
DIESEL & GAS MECHANIC
to maintain and repair large commercial vehicles. This full‑time position offers competitive pay based on experience.
Pay Base pay: $20.00–$24.00 per hour. Actual pay will depend on skills and experience.

Schedule: Monday – Friday
Location: 2245 Dwyer Ave, Utica, NY 13501
Hours: 40 hours per week (overtime opportunity)
About the Role As a diesel/auto mechanic, you will perform complex operations such as engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs on large commercial vehicles. You will also conduct thorough preventive maintenance inspections and address roadside and emergency repairs as needed.
Responsibilities
Perform accurate preventive maintenance inspections.
Complete all required maintenance operations following schedules (lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, tire rotation).
Carry out unscheduled maintenance under the direction of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.
Conduct complex repairs—engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust—and perform field tests using drawings and technical specifications.
Provide emergency roadside services.
Inspect equipment and diagnose mechanical defects.
Document repairs and parts on work orders accurately.
Maintain a clean, organized tool and workplace area.
Perform other duties as required, including on‑call service, extended hours, or weekend work.
Occasionally drive company vehicles to carry out road tests.
Qualifications
1+ year experience as a diesel mechanic or general mechanic.
Accreditation from a school or certification program (preferred).
Full completion of required training.
Successful background check and pre‑employment screening.
