Responsibilities

Assist customers in selecting custom wood and metal designs.

Use measuring tools to ensure accurate dimensions for custom framing of oil, canvas paintings, still life, glass, and mirrors.

Operate on‑site equipment to cut and assemble shadow boxes, frames, and needle work.

Maintain safety guards while using power and manual tools for all framing tasks, including mat cutting and glass cutting, and dispose of waste glass properly.

Identify customer needs, recommend additional custom services, and engage in suggestive selling.

Review finished products with customers to confirm specifications are met.

Repackage merchandise securely for customer transport.

Adhere to security policies for cash and stock; keep the area clean and orderly.

Communicate customer specifications to vendors and track order status.

Check incoming merchandise for breakage, non‑receipt, and signs received; advise supervisor of major issues.

Demonstrate framing samples, recommend color schemes or textures that complement the customer’s merchandise.

Take inventory of merchandise and inform supervisory staff of needed items.

Work under general supervision, perform duties independently within prescribed procedures, and refer problems or unusual situations to supervisor for assistance and guidance.

Qualifications

One year of experience in general retail customer service knowledge and ability, or substitution of education for experience: one year of high school education may be substituted for three months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.

Three years of experience completing custom picture frames according to selected designs specified by customers, including accurate measuring of frame dimensions and use of power and manual tools required for cutting and assembling various types of wood and metal frames, mat cutting, and glass cutting.
