Responsibilities
Drive our state-of-the-art 2023 Mercedes Sprinter van to scheduled appointments in the Southeast Maine area – equipped with the latest insulation technology to ensure comfort year-round. Provide professional grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, and styling according to customer preferences and breed standards. Ensure the safety and comfort of pets throughout the grooming process using gentle handling techniques and positive reinforcement. Assess each pet’s coat condition, skin health, and overall well-being; communicate any concerns to the pet owners. Educate pet owners on proper grooming techniques and recommend appropriate home-care products. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the grooming van and sanitize tools and supplies. Schedule and manage appointments, ensuring timely arrivals and efficient use of time to maximize productivity. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor.
Requirements
Love of animals and genuine interest in pet grooming. Proven experience as a professional pet groomer with knowledge of techniques, breed-specific cuts, and coat types. Grooming license for any areas we service (required). Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; ability to operate a grooming van safely. Passion for working with animals and ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with pet owners and provide outstanding service. Strong attention to detail and consistently high-quality grooming results. Ability to work independently and manage time to meet appointment schedules. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional extended hours based on demand. Certification from a reputable grooming school or equivalent qualification is highly desirable. Ability to lift to 75 lbs and handle heavy dogs when needed.
