ACT Power Services, a national Solar Power Operations & Maintenance Provider, is seeking a skilled and safety‑conscious High Voltage/Medium Voltage (HV/MV) Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, with expertise in the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of HV/MV electrical equipment and systems. This is a hands‑on role that plays a critical part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of a solar power plant’s infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HV/MV electrical systems (typically 5kV – 35kV and above).
Conduct electrical testing of transformers, switchgear, breakers, relays, and protective devices.
Perform cable splicing and terminations in accordance with industry standards.
Troubleshoot electrical faults and perform root cause analysis.
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and test results.
Assist in energizing new or repaired systems following strict safety protocols.
Comply with all OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
Support system upgrades, outages, and emergency repairs as needed.
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure projects meet specifications and timelines.
Requirements Required:
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience working with HV/MV systems.
Knowledge of electrical theory, protective relaying, and power system operations.
Proficiency in using electrical test equipment (e.g., Multimeters, Megger, Doble, HiPot, TTR, etc.).
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
Preferred:
Technical certificate or associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field.
OSHA 30 certification and NFPA 70E training.
NETA or equivalent testing certification is a plus.
Experience with substation and transmission system maintenance.
Certificate for medium voltage cable terminations and splices.
Physical Requirements & Benefits
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working in confined spaces, heights, and around energized equipment.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE including arc flash suits.
