Job Summary Performs tasks alongside Plant Mechanics II or III to increase his/her learning process and knowledge of what types of repairs and preventative maintenance is being done in our job environment. Executes minor tasks/jobs on their own, in a safe manner.
Job Responsibilities Safety:
Always Adhere to all CEMEX and OSHA rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment
Promotes safety within assigned area and serves as an example
Complete Safety Improvement Cards for assigned areas
Participates in the cleanliness of the plant, restrooms, and offices
Understands that nothing is more important than the safety of employees, contractors, and the public
Performance:
Expected to meet clearly defined shop and plant guidelines of cleanliness and safety
Hands on training of plant maintenance equipment such as torches, welder, grinder, shop hoist, forklift, manlift.
Assist Plant Mechanic II and III in performing more complex task/jobs
Understand standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Understands and adheres to all Zero Tolerance policies and procedures
Production:
Ensures that procedures set in place are performed and actions are taken to correct any deficiencies
Responsible for ongoing improvement of the assigned plant(s) and surrounding area(s)
Assist in ongoing minor maintenance and visual evaluations.
Confers to resolve problems, provide feedback, and may recommend solutions to improve performance.
Maintains a professional and respectful atmosphere to attain plant maintenance level goals.
Meet or exceed company safety standards.
Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.
Understand and be able to safely operate the maintenance truck and if equipped boom lift
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent / some technical, vocational or education preferred
1 – 3 years of mechanical experience preferred
Must have your own tools
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of OSHA/DOT regulations
Basic welding and torch cutting skills
Basic mechanical skills
Working Conditions
Must be able to work all hours – including nights and weekends
Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
You must wear protective equipment while at the location
Physical Requirements
Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate with employees/ visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning and/or pulling of controls
