Senior CNC Machinist (Machinist III)
to join our
Flex Machining
team in
Orem, Utah . This is a
high-skill, senior-level machining role
for an experienced machinist who can handle
complex setups, CNC programming, troubleshooting, and precision work
with minimal supervision.
This position is ideal for a machinist who enjoys challenging work, mentoring others, and working closely with engineering and quality teams to solve technical problems.
What You’ll Do
As a
Machinist III , you will be responsible for advanced machining operations including:
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot
CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual mills, manual lathes, and waterjet machines
Perform complex machining for
production and engineering / prototype parts
Read and interpret
advanced blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
Create, edit, and optimize
CNC programs
using
G-code and Mazatrol
Hold tight tolerances and ensure high-quality parts meet all specifications
Perform
preventative maintenance
per company PM programs
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Assist in training and mentoring junior machinists and operators
Collaborate with
engineering and quality teams
to resolve machining and process issues
Follow all engineering instructions, SOPs, and safety procedures
Required Technical Skills
You should have strong working knowledge of:
CNC Machining & Programming
CNC mill and CNC lathe setup and operation
CNC programming using
G/M codes and Mazatrol
Program creation, editing, and troubleshooting
Machine fixturing and tooling selection
Machine safety and lubrication practices
Measurement & Inspection
Micrometers (OD & ID)
Calipers
Bore gauges
Height gauges & micro-height gauges
Optical comparator
Depth gauges
Protractors
Mold inspection tools
Gauge calibration verification
GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Qualifications
7+ years of experience
working with CNC and/or manual machines
Proven experience with
complex setups and programming
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
Strong math skills and precision measurement ability
High school diploma or GED required
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong teamwork, reliability, and professionalism
Physical & Work Environment
Ability to stand for extended periods
Frequent lifting up to
50 lbs , occasional lifting up to
100 lbs
with assistance
Work in a shop environment with varying temperatures, noise, and machining fluids
Comfortable machining a wide range of materials, including:
Plastics
Fiberglass composites
Metals and alloys
