Why the Assistant Director of Social Media for AOII:
As the Assistant Director of Social Media for AOII, you will be a vital member within the AOII Communications Department by managing AOII social media accounts and supporting collegiate chapters with social media and public relations initiatives to improve digital engagement, promote brand awareness and loyalty, educate AOII members, and foster positive experiences for all who engage with AOII.
Reports to: Director of Communications
Essential Duties or Functions:
Create and manage a content calendar for multiple AOII social media channels
Create dynamic content for multiple AOII social media sites
Oversee the AOII Hootsuite platform for scheduling and publishing social media content
Manage and monitor AOII social media sites, including Instagram, Facebook, Facebook pages, TikTok, and LinkedIn, and engage with audience members
Monitor, track, and interpret social media analytics across all platforms to evaluate performance, engagement, and audience behavior.
Provide individual coaching and support to collegiate chapters as assigned to strengthen social media strategy and public relations on their respective campuses and in their communities
Act as the lead coordinator for AOII’s Project PR initiative.
Partner with the Director of Communications and Assistant Director of Editorial Content to create content to promote our vendors and marketing partners
Collaborate with the Communications team on public relations initiatives and strategic marketing initiatives.
Serve on the Communications team to support AOII in any related duties required or requested by the Executive Director or Assistant Executive Director
Member of the Fraternity Communications Association (FCA)
The Assistant Director of Social Media must be able to demonstrate:
Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven track record of growing audience engagement, reach, and brand awareness across platforms.
Strong social media skills with proven experience
Experience creating and editing photo and video content for social media
Understanding of ever-changing social media trends and best practices
Active listening and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail
Ability to maintain strong brand awareness
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to easily engage others in positive dialogue one-on-one or in a group setting, and at many different levels
High level of emotional intelligence
Skills at prioritizing duties, working under time constraints, handling multiple tasks, and able to direct others to execute shared plans and goals
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to think and act independently, and the ability to work individually or as a member of a team
Ability to scan an audience and tailor messaging in the moment
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience developing, managing, and executing social media campaigns
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field
Experience creating, curating, and editing content for multiple social media channels
Skilled in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
Experience with Hootsuite and/or LaterSocial preferred
Knowledge of current social trends and updates to platforms
Ability to monitor and post content during and after business hours, including holidays as needed
Ability to effectively read, write, and speak the English language
Physical mobility and dexterity to transport files and operate general office equipment (telephone, fax, copier, computer, etc.)
Experience in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Must be able to work evening and weekend functions as necessary
Must be willing and able to travel as needed
Membership in a Fraternity/Sorority preferred
Two to four years of relevant experience preferred
Experience with AP Style preferred
Working Conditions:
Office setting based in Brentwood, TN, with remote work capabilities
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on the computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Salary Range:
$52,000 - $58,000
