IUOE Equipment Mechanic – University of Rochester

Employment Type: Full‑time | Shift: UR - Day | Compensation: $25.80 – $33.15 per hour
Responsibilities
Checks, troubleshoots, repairs and adjusts apparatus, instruments, and equipment according to specific procedures.
Performs necessary electrical and electronic work on beds, lifts, and related equipment; fabricates parts without extensive machining.
Works from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, verbal instructions, or experience in completing mechanical, electrical, electronic assignments and diagnosing apparatus, instruments, and equipment.
Performs cleaning of equipment, instruments, and apparatus in accordance with approved maintenance procedures to protect electrical, electronic, and mechanical components.
Instructs housekeeping and nursing staff in proper operating procedures of equipment.
Performs basic and routine level work typically assigned to other trades (carpentry or electrical) when incidental to mechanical work or required in an emergency.
Keeps records and makes daily reports of work.
Complies with safety regulations of the University and local, state, and federal agencies.
Maintains cleanliness of work area and ensures tools and equipment are kept in good working order.
Performs other duties requiring comparable skills and responsibility as directed.
Qualifications High school diploma plus 2‑3 years experience in an electrical/mechanical or related environment; or a comparable combination of education and experience.
