GDIT has an immediate opening for a Systems Administrator to fill a Core Services position supporting the NNSA (National Nuclear Security Administration). The Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting core service functions covering Server, Storage Endpoint Security (ESS), E‑discovery, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Monitoring Tools, Storage, and VMware teams.

What you will do:

Enterprise Authorization: Integrate Linux Systems into a primary Windows environment (workstations & servers) where authentication, authorization and accounting actives are controlled by Active Directory with PKI certificates and Single Sign On.

Enterprise Provisioning: Configure new Linux and Windows systems for customer use and ensuring that initial configurations meet the required enterprise baselines & controls (e.g., proper agents installed, proper configs, etc.)

Integrate Linux and Windows systems with other enterprise tooling (e.g., ACAS, Splunk, SolarWinds, Backup systems, etc.).

Ensure patches are maintained across a diverse Linux environment in a heavily automated manner, where possible.

Ensure that already‑provisioned Servers are kept in compliance with baseline requirements & ever‑changing enterprise policy (e.g., equivalent to Group Policy in the Windows realm for ongoing compliance update).

Provide technical support to the administration of enterprise Storage systems including Hyperflex, NAS and SAN platforms.

Provide technical and administrative support to system backups, ensuring all backups are completing as scheduled and the system is operating in an optimized manner.

Develop an operating system lifecycle plan with integration of NNSA STIGs and other recommended security standards.

Monitor all solutions integrated via a centralized alerting system.

Certify log management and forwarding to a single repository.

Serves as a technical expert for the development, implementation, management and support of systems and networks. Plans and executes complex assignments, developing new methods and approaches in a wide variety of IT specialties.

Maintains group policy, AD directory structure and deployment of policies.

Provides domain‑level configuration, administration, operation and support for the enterprise.

Supports hardware and software management; uses, monitors, and manages a software license repository across the enterprise for recording and tracking software licensing/support agreements.

Provides configuration management support in accordance with compliance and policies and procedures.

Performs account management, e.g., establishing, activating, modifying, disabling and removing accounts.

Provides configuration management, implementation and sustainment of compliance with applicable system security controls.

Provides support to IT systems including day‑to‑day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.

Optimizes system operations and resource utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning.

Provides in‑depth experience in troubleshooting IT systems.

Education and Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent work experience) or technical training, certifications, and 8+ years of experience.

Required Skills:

At least 5‑7 years of experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role.

Strong experience with Linux and Windows‑based systems administration.

Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V).

Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.

Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).

Experience with backup strategies and industry tools such as Commvault.

Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) for automation tasks.

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.

Solid understanding of networking protocols and concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, etc.).

Expert knowledge and experience in current Windows client server to include OS configuration, file sharing, DNS, DHCP and Active Directory.

Experience granting permissions, group policy, responding to trouble tickets.

Optimizes system operations and resource utilization.

Implements ongoing system security compliance measures including patches and updates.

Knowledge and demonstrated experience and its implementation using VMware vSphere (vCenter/ESXi) and Horizon View (VDI Desktops).

Practical experience in implementing and maintaining virtualization (VDI Desktops).

Security Clearance Level: DOE Q or TS Random Drug Screening Required Skills and Abilities: Written and Oral Communication; Organization, Problem Solving, Communication and Teamwork. Location: Washington DC, Germantown, MD or Albuquerque, NM – 100% onsite with our customer US Citizenship Required

Microsoft Windows Hybrid Administrator

ITIL 4 Foundation Certification

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

Salary range: $94,676 – $128,092. Salary is determined by experience, location and contractual requirements.

Travel Required: Less than 10% Telecommuting Options: Onsite Work Location: USA DC Washington, MD Germantown
