HDR Engineering is looking for a Bridge Design Coordinator to join our St. Louis or Kansas City, MO team. The Bridge Design Coordinator will be expected to perform structural design on bridges and walls and occasional field work such as bridge inspection and construction observation.

Responsibilities

Participate in bridge designs, develop design plans, perform structural load calculations and quantity takeoffs, review shop drawings and field submittals.

Work in a team environment as well as independently while challenging yourself to acquire knowledge and experience in engineering.

Support the bridge design group and other disciplines by applying structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of structural designs.

Perform other duties such as bridge inspection and construction observation as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

MS Office, MathCAD and AutoCAD, LARSA and Prestress Concrete Design experience

Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred

New graduate candidates considered; additional bridge/structural design experience will also be considered

Must be willing to work with other disciplines (bridge inspection, roadway design, hydraulic analysis, stream restoration, planning, construction services, environmental) within the office

Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and other DOT design guidelines considered a plus

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have good communication skills and be willing to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment on a wide range of projects

Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications

Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and knowledge of engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.

Bently OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d

Strong understanding and hands‑on use of computers for structural layout and design

Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
