What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
Gather information from various sources to perform underwriting analysis in accordance with company guidelines
Review individual risks for acceptability and handle those within authority based on underwriting standards
Manage larger, more complex underwriting cases and ensure workflow efficiency
Underwrite new business, renewals, and endorsements while adhering to company guidelines
Communicate effectively with agents and internal partners to facilitate underwriting processes and resolve issues
What is Required (Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
Minimum of six years of commercial lines underwriting experience, with middle market experience preferred
Completion of INS, AU, or similar designations with progress toward CIC and/or CPCU preferred
Knowledge of commercial underwriting policies, practices, and state and federal insurance regulations
Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary for interaction with various stakeholders
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
Experience in farm, agribusiness, or commercial underwriting
Proven ability to analyze insurance risks and recommend solutions
Familiarity with commercial insurance processing systems
Ability to train and mentor less experienced underwriting staff
Leadership skills and competencies that enhance team performance
