This role will use innovative and creative approaches to continue building a culture of engagement and recognition, and appreciation at American. The ideal team member will be a person who has experience executing and delivering world-class, in-person events, ranging in size from 20-500, that are aligned with the business strategy.
Working side-by-side with key departmental stakeholders to guide, create, plan and execute campus events, team member engagement opportunities and department meetings. You’ll own the work from end-to-end to ensure standards for production quality, creativity, teamwork and budget management are met.
This position reports to the Manager, Meetings & Events and is part of our Global Engagement group's Engagement & Events team.
What you'll do As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.
Manage multiple projects at the same time and meet deadlines effectively, efficiently, and independently
Take ownership of tasks or projects, offer creative solutions to potential issues, and proactively communicate next steps and timelines
Lead small to medium size company internal/external in-person events and engagement opportunities including, but not limited to:
Strategic event design, branding, all AV, F&B, accommodations and transportation
Registration website, event mobile apps, invitation lists and responses, and confirmation communications
Vendor management including contract negotiations, security and budget management
Purchasing of supplies as needed
Design quarterly engagement opportunities for team members on the Robert L. Crandall Campus that drives culture as a competitive advantage
Partner with key stakeholders to achieve program success and act as the key decision-maker on behalf of stakeholders
Take ownership of tasks or projects, offer creative solutions to potential issues, and proactively communicate next steps. Can juggle unexpected issues and circumstances with calm professionalism
Ability to interface with all departments within the airline, including senior leadership
Deliver onsite management of meetings, events and engagement opportunities
Support and lead focus areas for enterprise and recognition events
Supervise, direct and coordinate the activities of volunteers, onsite staff and vendors as required to successfully execute all aspects of the event
All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Undergraduate degree in a relevant field or experience/training
3 years of experience as an employee events planner, corporate meetings, strategic event planning or in an equivalent role
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Excellent knowledge of and hands‑on experience with all aspects of event management and logistics
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
Must be able to travel and work extended hours as necessary including weekends
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Excellent written and verbal communication, project management and presentation skills
Able to work collaboratively, as well as independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously while driving strategic decisions, process changes and business initiatives
Polished professional presence, and discretion in handling confidential information
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment while multitasking, re‑prioritizing projects, and communication priority updates to stakeholders
Makes a positive impact on team members, maintains a positive, can‑do attitude and adapts quickly to changes
