Dewberry is currently seeking a Landscape Architect/ Planner to join our Landscape Architecture team, in our Raleigh, NC office, to work on a variety of projects for clients across the southeastern United States. Our landscape architecture team provides comprehensive service to our clients from the conceptual stage through construction administration frequently serving as the design lead for site design. Typical projects involve site design for parks and recreation, multi-family, mixed‑use, life science, commercial and capital improvement projects. Responsibilities
Prepare conceptual design documents to discover client programming, communicate design intent, and study design implications for proposed work to inform our clients. This includes site design studies, conceptual diagramming, grading and earthwork studies.
Work on design teams in all aspects of a given project to develop detailed design documents for construction plans, including site plans, grading design, storm water management systems design, planting plans, erosion and sediment control design, amenity areas, and construction details using Civil 3D.
Prepare resilience plans for public clients, participate in community engagement efforts, and provide support for grant funding efforts.
Conduct code research, write specifications, and coordinate permitting for site specific projects.
Prepare development plans to support entitlement efforts and assist with conducting public meetings and workshops.
Support public workshops and present at industry events.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or another related field.
4+ years of related professional experience.
RLA or ACIP certification is desired but not required, goal for candidates to obtain within 18 months of start date.
Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in written and visual formats, technical information related to natural hazards and climate resilience in projects, presentations, and papers.
Comfort working with geospatial and quantitative data: managing and cleaning datasets, conducting analyses, and presenting results. Knowledge and ability to use ArcMap/ArcPro.
Ability to perform an expanded array of tasks assigned by senior‑level staff, designed to broaden experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs applicable to the department.
Well‑developed time management skills, especially the ability to complete high‑quality, detail‑oriented deliverables on tight timelines amid competing deadlines within a diverse work group.
Ability to exercise initiative, resourcefulness, and tact in obtaining and analyzing information related to resilience planning.
Self‑motivation and ability to function both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to get along with coworkers and superiors and work well as part of a team.
