Responsibilities

Coordinate documentation required by US Customs and Government Agencies for the entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers.

Provide impeccable customer service.

Process commodities identified as requiring specialized processing to reduce risk of penalties through classification and proper duty preference.

Obtain correct classification of goods for customs release from database, SOPs, tariff book, internet, or customs authorities.

Enter and process various import‑related documentation for submission to US Customs and handle all participating Government Agencies (PGA’s).

Maintain and keep current all shipment documentation in compliance with record‑keeping requirements.

Adhere to all international importing and exporting regulations.

Collaborate with internal staff, departments, other FedEx opcos, customers and government agencies to deliver a high level of customer service.

Process agency brokerage shipments.

Handle remote filings.

Perform entry reconciliations as needed.

Ensure compliance with all government and organizational policies.

Follow up on Customs matters and resolve problems.

Perform entry reviews as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned. Paid training provided.

Qualifications

HS Diploma or GED required.

Minimum of 6 months work experience required; 12 months of industry experience preferred.

Data entry/keyboard experience required.

Working knowledge of MS Office and email applications such as Outlook, using multiple screens and windows.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Organizational, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to handle high‑volume, time‑sensitive work and work independently with minimal supervision.

Proficiency in using multiple systems and reference material.

Ability to interact with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, internal staff, management, and internal departments.

Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Mandatory overtime may be required during periods of high volume.

Working on company‑recognized holidays may be necessary.

Must reside within a 50‑mile radius of Springfield, MO.

Must have typing ability/data entry skills.

Hybrid position.

Pay Transparency This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary at the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location, and other job‑related factors. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The company offers eligible employees health, vision, and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay Starting Pay $16.00 + $3.00 Premium. Range: $12.39 - $19.65.

Additional Details Full‑time Customs Trade Specialist. Monday through Friday (08:00 AM – 05:00 PM).
