Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in mechanical design, modeling, and analysis in support of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) programs. The ideal candidate will possess deep familiarity with Air Force Technical Orders (TOs), SAE, NAS, and Military Standards, and have hands‑on experience developing, documenting, and validating engineering designs for complex aerospace or defense systems. This will be a 6-12 month contract converting to full time hire! Responsibilities
Lead and perform detailed mechanical design and modeling of aerospace and defense components, assemblies, and systems using CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA). Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure manufacturability, fit, and function per ASME Y14.5 standards. Conduct tolerance stack‑ups and analyses to validate design integrity and alignment with system‑level requirements. Develop and maintain engineering documentation in accordance with SAE, NAS, and MIL‑STD requirements. Review and interpret Air Force Technical Orders (TOs) and associated drawings to ensure compliance and accurate configuration control. Author, justify, and process Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Requests for Variance (RFVs) for submission and approval by government customers. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, systems, and test engineers, to ensure full system integration and compatibility. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Minimum 5–10 years of mechanical design experience, preferably supporting DoD or Air Force programs. Demonstrated expertise in CAD modeling, detailed drawings, and GD&T application. Seniority level
