Developer Experience delivers enterprise capabilities and a common developer experience enabling Capital One to thrive in the cloud. To continue our efforts in this space, we are focusing on improving Developer productivity by enhancing automation of software quality assurance on the DevOps pipeline.

The challenge ahead of the team is this: how might we empower our in‑house software engineers at Capital One in improving their productivity, reducing operational risks and defects in production, ensuring the quality and well‑managed bar of each line of committed code.

As a Senior Product Manager on the Developer Experience Product team, you will be envisioning, designing, and delivering best‑in‑class solutions that improve the quality of life of our software delivery teams while maintaining the highest quality and security standards. This role sits at the heart of transforming the Capital One Developer Experience. You will be responsible for defining and executing strategy to improve developer productivity, test automation, and our delivery pipeline. You will partner with tech and design partners to deliver tools and strategy on how developers will write, build, and test their code, and leverage test automation on the DevOps pipeline before releasing the code. You will also drive the experience for adoption of development tools, automated testing and provide the quality measure on the developed software.

This role champions developer needs by leveraging Software Development Life Cycle and industry best practices to establish the developer experience vision and strategies. Responsibilities include defining features and collaborating with technical teams to ensure delivered capabilities meet business objectives. The successful candidate thrives in ambiguous environments, enjoys teamwork with technical experts, and seamlessly shifts between strategic vision and immediate priorities. A passion for technology and a deep understanding of developer experiences are crucial, along with the ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams and diverse stakeholders, from technical leads and data analysts to senior leadership.

Successful Candidates Will Also Demonstrate

Technical knowledge and depth necessary to propose and influence new product and feature ideas, especially in the space of automation and their role in connecting the dots for large enterprise quality and risks.

Experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer‑facing digital products.

Work with key stakeholders within the organization to understand dependencies and prioritize the customers’ needs.

Prepare strategic roadmaps and communicate them to Leadership and other stakeholders.

Experience delivering products against plan in a fast‑paced, multi‑disciplined, distributed‑responsibility and often ambiguous environment.

Analytical and quantitative skills; experience using hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives.

Strong work ethic as team player and a willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.

Responsibilities

Engage all stakeholders (Engineers, SDLC, Architecture, Risk, and Cyber) directly through a variety of channels to serve as the voice of the customer internally – identifying new capabilities, defining product features, and working closely with development teams to get those features incorporated.

Interaction with Engineers and understand the technical language to articulate the requirements.

Drive the product management practice within the organization, defining expectations and commitments.

Operationalize product metrics for the products you own and build the business case for new investment.

Influence senior stakeholders to use our products and share with them the outcomes we are enabling to strengthen investment.

We Want You If You Are

Human Centered; you’ll lead sourcing and synthesis of customer discovery efforts to understand customer needs to drive the long‑term vision for your product and rally your stakeholders.

Business Focused; you’ll own and prioritize the long‑term (12–18 months) product roadmap to deliver on business outcomes, working closely with a cross‑functional team and defining KPIs for your product.

Technology Driven; you’ll have an end‑to‑end understanding of your product and how it fits into the larger ecosystem to anticipate impacts from changes in other parts of the business.

Integrated Problem Solving; develop and champion a bold vision that drives meaningful outcomes by embracing the art of the possible and building frameworks for complex decision making.

Transformational Leadership; you’ll rally your teams and senior stakeholders to your product vision, influence prioritization across partner teams, and mentor and develop associates on their product career.

Basic Qualifications

At least 5 years of experience working in Product Management.

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:

A Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field).

A Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer‑facing digital products.

The minimum and maximum full‑time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location.

Chicago, IL: $175,500 - $200,300 McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 Plano, TX: $175,500 - $200,300 Richmond, VA: $175,500 - $200,300

This role is also eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non‑discretionary depending on the plan.
