THE COURTHOUSE
Position Overview
The Sous Chef is a key member of our kitchen leadership team, working closely with the Head Chef to oversee daily operations, ensure high-quality food preparation, and maintain a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen. This role requires strong leadership, creativity, and a hands‑on approach to mentoring kitchen staff while upholding the restaurant’s standards of excellence.
Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in menu development, recipe testing, and food presentation.
Oversee line operations, ensuring consistent quality, flavor, and plating.
Manage and train kitchen staff, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
Maintain proper inventory levels, conduct ordering, and minimize waste.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
Step in as acting head chef in the Head Chef’s absence.
Collaborate with front‑of‑house staff to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
Uphold and enhance the Courthouse brand through consistency, creativity, and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
3+ years of culinary experience in a high-volume restaurant; previous leadership experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation standards.
Ability to lead, motivate, and train a diverse team.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Culinary degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
Passion for food, hospitality, and delivering an exceptional guest experience.
Food handler’s certification (or ability to obtain) prior to start date.
