Base Pay Range $62,569.00/yr – $78,934.00/yr

Responsibilities

Function as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team.

Serve as the primary counselor, managing all facets of clinical services to assigned patients’ caseload.

Provide individual and group brief therapy utilizing evidence‑based practices and facilitate a variety of clinical activities.

Work with co‑occurring mental health, gambling disorders, and criminal‑justice mandated patients.

Present/conduct lectures, videos, psycho‑educational groups, and specialty groups.

Intervene when patients are in crisis and utilize clinical skills to problem‑solve.

Interview patients to complete various assessments; perform psycho‑social assessment as part of individual treatment plan development; monitor patients’ compliance with treatment goals.

Complete forms, documents, and records efficiently, including discharge planning, while adhering to all applicable confidentiality regulations.

Provide or coordinate all facets of patients’ care.

Seek consultation with senior staff as needed.

Participate in activities to improve patient care and facility operations.

Participate in meal preparation and distribution.

Use a computer proficiently for patient documentation and other required communication.

Transport patients as needed using NYS vehicle.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently employed as an Addictions Counselor 1 or currently registered as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) (Level 2, Advanced, or Master) in New York State; or eligible for transfer.

Must possess current registration as a CASAC in New York State.

For permanent, non‑competitive appointment under the Civil Service Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program, current CASAC registration in NYS is required.

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, the position may be filled via a non‑competitive appointment; all candidates must still meet the minimum qualifications.

Eligible to participate fully and unconditionally in the Medicaid and Medicare programs; failure to maintain licensure, certification, and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in termination.

Must be eligible for mandatory overtime and be added to the roster for 24/7/365 programing.

Salary $59,994 – $76,359* Plus $2,000 location pay Plus $575 inconvenience pay

Background Investigation Requirements

Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL).

Criminal background check (CBC) including state and federal history; convictions must be reported.

Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR).

Fingerprinting and possible fee payment for records.
