Home Care Specialist – Part-Time Sat./Sun. 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM

About the Role Provide support with activities of daily living (ADLs), companionship, light household support, and elevated, personalized in‑home care for clients with complex needs such as memory loss, cognitive impairment, physical limitations, or social isolation. Responsibilities may include care‑plan support, safety monitoring, and use of tech‑enabled wellness tools.
Schedule, Location & Pay
Available for Saturday or Sunday shifts from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Must live in the Greater Des Moines or Ames area
Base pay $16–$19 per hour + $2 shift differential for weekend work
What You’ll Do
Assist clients with personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting), including those with cognitive or physical impairments
Monitor client safety, especially fall risk or wandering behaviors
Engage in mentally stimulating or wellness activities (games, music therapy, digital memory tools)
Prepare meals respecting special dietary needs or routines
Use basic technology tools to track client well‑being
Offer companionship and emotional care to support mental health
Follow individualized care plans and report changes promptly
Document client interactions, behaviors, and completed tasks accurately
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and company guidelines
Qualifications
At least 18 years old with high school diploma or equivalent
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
Clear background check and drug screen
Valid Iowa driver’s license, reliable transportation, clean driving record
Ability to lift 25–50 lbs and assist with client mobility
Willingness to engage in enrichment activities
Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
Ability to follow care plans and document services accurately
Comfort with mobile apps or tablets for logging updates
Preferred
Prior experience with ADLs
Experience in home care, assisted living, or related field
Certified Nursing Assistant credential or training in memory care
Experience with dementia or memory care clients preferred
Familiarity with HIPAA and privacy practices
