Project Designer: Architectural staff level I (non-licensed)
Three to five years of professional experience and professional degree in architecture required.
Ostermier Architecture is seeking an enthusiastic designer to join the firm. OA currently has projects in NYC, Los Angeles, and Australia. We primarily work on custom high-end residential design projects. These include brownstone interior renovations & extensions, apartment combinations, interior design, and new buildings. We are a full-service architectural firm that includes assisting and coordinating all aspects of interior design (fixtures, furnishings, and equipment).
In addition, we also provide selective pro-bono services to housing access and affordability projects. This work includes presentation materials and attendance of events in support of our pro-bono clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES This role is for someone ready to embrace ownership of their work, and step into project management experience. This is a dynamic role that offers experience in all aspects of an architectural project.
A typical project will require the following essential duties:
Travel to project sites in NYC
Attend client meetings
Measure and document existing site conditions
Prepare schematic floor plan alternatives
Create iterative digital and physical models throughout Design Development
Prepare presentation documents for client meetings, Landmarks Preservation Committee meetings, and/or regulatory board meetings.
Prepare documents for filing architectural plans with the Department of Buildings and Building Management approval when required
Coordinate with architectural consultants
Project bidding & contract negotiations
Attend construction site meetings throughout Contract Administration phases
SKILLS
Minimum 3 years of residential architecture experience
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, and Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, & Illustrator. Enscape and Revit a plus.
Ability to create, read, and interpret architectural/design drawings and documents.
Ability to collaborate and make revisions accordingly.
Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects.
Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
Legally eligible to work in the United States
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
