Direct Care Worker (Personal Care Aide / Caregiver)

Qualifications
Completion of High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
18 years of age or older
Satisfactory performance on a competency evaluation and annual reevaluation
Reliable transportation to and from assignments
Completion of all required health screenings
Obtaining satisfactory references and background screenings prior to hire
Responsibilities
Help the client maintain good personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming and dressing
Assist in maintaining a healthy, safe environment
Assist the client with meals
Assist the client with transfers and ambulation, with or without an assistive device
Provide medication reminders
Encourage the client to become as independent as possible according to the nursing care plan
Maintain client/family confidentiality at all times
Report any changes in the client’s mental or physical condition or in the client’s home situation to the company
Perform routine housekeeping tasks that contribute to a safe and comfortable environment for the client
Functional Abilities
Ability to stoop and bend
Ability to travel to prospective clients’ residences
Ability to safely lift, turn and transfer clients weighing up to 40 pounds
