Tool and Die Maker (Finance)
Solventum is a new healthcare company that combines material science, data science, and engineering to create breakthrough solutions. We are hiring a Tool and Die Maker to join our team in Irvine, CA.
Pay
$35.47 - $45.74 per hour (plus shift premiums if applicable)
Location and Travel
Work location: 2111 McGaw Ave, Irvine, CA 92614 (Onsite)
Travel: No Travel

Responsibilities
Perform precision Toolroom operations including milling, turning, grinding (surface/ID/OD), honing, blending, and polishing of deep cavity forming dies
Operate advanced equipment such as vertical mills, grinders, lathes, comparators, microscopes, and precision measuring tools
Design, machine, assemble, modify, and troubleshoot dies, fixtures, and mechanical equipment to exact tolerances
Collaborate with peers to optimize productivity, improve tooling, and enhance processes for cost reduction and efficiency
Apply and evaluate principles of precision fabrication for tools including punches, dies, jigs, and fixtures
Communicate clearly in English verbally and in writing
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED or higher (complete prior to start)
Minimum of three (3) years of tool room experience
Additional Qualifications
Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed
Availability for first, second, or third shift (depending on shift availability)
Strong metallurgical background with knowledge of carbides, tool steels, and alloys
Familiarity with rubber and plastic machining
Experience in heat treatment, transfer presses, and progressive dies
Skills in mechanical and non-mechanical tasks; proficiency with advanced shop tools
Ability to operate precision machines and measuring devices (e.g., lathes, grinders, mills, calipers, micrometers)
Expertise in maintaining close tolerances and interpreting blueprints
Process analysis and improvement skills; capable of mentoring apprentices
Solid understanding of trigonometry for tooling applications
Background in maintenance, systems, and electro‑mechanical work
