What is the Opportunity? We are seeking a highly experienced and detail‑oriented Electrical Estimator with a background in high‑voltage substations and related electrical infrastructure projects, including Battery Storage (BESS). The ideal candidate will prepare accurate, competitive, and detailed cost estimates for substation construction and upgrade projects.

What You’ll Do Here:

Prepare detailed estimates for strategically selected projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.

Analyze project drawings, specifications, proposals and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.

Review and interpret electrical and civil drawings related to substations, including one‑line diagrams, wiring schematics, and general arrangements.

Lead quantity takeoffs and pricing efforts, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project scope.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and procurement, to validate cost data and construction methods.

Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids for scope compliance and cost competitiveness.

Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site visits, and risk reviews as required, reviewing project site prior to price preparation.

Support the preparation of bid proposals, budgets, and schedules.

Accountable for accuracy and completeness of submissions.

Conduct bid closure and bid handover meetings, and job set‑ups as needed.

Provide recommendations for award of subcontractments.

Ensure the distribution of documentation appropriately upon award.

Provide technical support to field staff as appropriate.

Assist with prequalification, RFQ and RFI submissions as required.

What You Bring to the Team:

Diploma / Degree / Trade Certification in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 3+ years of estimating experience, with at least 1 year focused on substations and/or BESS.

Strong understanding of substation and/or BESS design, construction practices, and utility standards.

Proficiency in estimating software.

Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and contract specifications.

ECI / Design‑build / EPC experience an asset.

Engineering experience or equivalent technical knowledge in the renewable energy industry an asset.

Knowledge of contract language / terms and conditions / surety, etc.

Knowledge of job cost fundamentals and accounting / reporting an asset.

Self‑motivated with excellent organizational skills.

Ability to work accurately, effectively under pressure, adapting to a flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines, working independently with minimal supervision and with others as a team.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.

Professional designation an asset (P.Eng., C.E.T., CTech).
