Radiation Protection Supervisor (Plant Hatch)
The radiation protection supervisor is responsible for providing active leadership by supervising a team of radiation protection technicians who support operations and maintenance activities within radiologically controlled areas of the facility. The supervisor oversees work‑management processes and plans for radiological work activities, implements procedures to meet site and regulatory requirements, and supports the emergency response organization by serving in the on‑call rotation.
JOB SUMMARY The radiation protection supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of radiation protection technicians and ensuring the safe execution of health‑physics related activities in radiologically controlled areas. The role includes oversight of work‑management processes, planning and preparation for radiological work, and implementation of procedures that meet regulatory and site requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in the physical sciences or engineering (strongly preferred).
5 years’ experience in radiation protection at a nuclear reactor facility, with at least 2 years of technical training.
Knowledge of plant procedures, regulations, systems, processes, and work‑management processes.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain priorities.
Effective teamwork and the ability to sustain working relationships across disciplines.
Commitment to meeting background screening, fitness‑for‑duty, and physical requirements.
Potential requirement to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position and access.
Requirement to reside within a 90‑minute response time of Plant Hatch for emergency response availability.
Preferred
Previous leadership experience.
Experience as an RP supervisor.
NRRPT certification.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the radiation protection technicians by setting clear goals, accountability, performance measures, and developmental plans; hold employees accountable for performance consistent with expectations.
Participate in the T‑week planning and critique process and provide direct oversight of field activities.
Spend regular time in the field to provide oversight, direction, trust, and relationship building.
Continuously improve department processes to drive efficiency and safety.
Support the emergency response plan.
