Sr. Product Manager, Portfolio Strategy – Shockwave Medical (Remote) – Santa Clara, California, United States
Position Overview
We are looking for a high‑performing individual to join the upstream marketing team to lead new product development projects and explore novel applications of our core technology within the coronary market. This role works closely with key opinion leaders (KOLs), market teams, and cross‑functional groups, engaging directly with physicians and clinical staff during brand adoption and clinical studies.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Vice President to guide portfolio strategy for core and novel technology new product development programs.
- Champion product development activities across multiple internal groups by collaborating with and influencing R&D, regulatory, clinical, quality, operations, and sales teams.
- Partner with R&D, clinical, and commercial teams to define potential applications for our core technology.
- Lead market research to identify unmet needs, opportunities, and value propositions.
- Assess the competitive and clinical environment to prioritize development activities.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders in the field.
- Plan, acquire, and analyze feedback from KOLs, customers, advisory boards, and third‑party research to inform product development and case coverage.
- Communicate customer input to technical development teams and cross‑functional leadership.
- Take a leadership role on project teams; work closely with the project manager to ensure accountability and goal achievement.
- Perform financial modeling and forecasting for new product opportunities.
- Partner with development teams to evaluate new products in animal and cadaver studies.
- Explore opportunities to expand clinical evidence supporting strategic publication initiatives.
- Engage directly with physicians and staff to support product launch and clinical studies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly desired.
- Minimum 10 years of professional product management, clinical, sales, engineering, or equivalent experience, preferably in cardiovascular medtech.
- Experience attending clinical cases to uncover unmet needs and understand disease states and procedures.
- Proven ability to become a subject‑matter expert for emerging clinical applications and market segments.
- Ability to develop relationships with KOLs and adjust strategies based on customer voice and emerging trends.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Cross‑functional team leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to collaborate within a dynamic, matrixed environment.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must be able to travel up to 40% (global and U.S.).

Pay & Benefits
The anticipated base pay range for this position is US – $100,000 – $172,500 / BA – $114,000 – $197,800.
Employees and eligible dependents are eligible to participate in company‑sponsored benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may also participate in the consolidated retirement plan (pension and 401(k)) and the long‑term incentive program.
Time‑off benefits include: Vacation – 120 hours per year; Sick time – 40 hours per year (56 hours for Washington state residents); Holiday pay (including floating holidays) – 13 days per year; Work, Personal and Family Time – up to 40 hours per year; Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of birth/adoption/foster care; Condolence Leave – 30 days (5 days for extended family); Caregiver Leave – 10 days; Volunteer Leave – 4 days; Military Spouse Time‑Off – 80 hours.
