CNC Programmer

This CNC Programming role is vital for developing, optimizing, and supporting CNC machining processes from engineering release through production. The role involves creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs (G-code) for mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines using CAM software. Responsibilities: Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, and Siemens NX. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to generate accurate machining strategies. Select and recommend cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters based on materials, tolerances, and part geometry. Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control to validate programs and resolve issues on the shop floor. Support first article inspections (FAI) and process adjustments to meet dimensional and surface finish specifications. Provide technical support during machine setup and troubleshoot issues. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to cycle time reduction, scrap minimization, and process reliability. Maintain and organize program files, setup sheets, tool lists, and documentation for repeatability and traceability. Essential Skills: Proficient in CNC programming, with a strong understanding of G-code. Experience programming for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machines. Must have experience with Mastercam, Fusion 360, and SolidCAM. Familiarity with continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives. Knowledge of programming for Mazak machines. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Experience in cycle time reduction and process reliability. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $48.00/hr.
