Administrative Aide

The Montgomery County Government Office of the County Attorney is among the premier local government legal offices in the United States. Representing one of the nation's largest local governments, with an annual budget that presently exceeds $7 billion, attorneys in Office of the County Attorney are called upon to handle a wide variety of matters, many of which involve exciting and novel areas of the law. The Office provides legal advice and representation to all County departments, agencies, instrumentalities, boards and commissions, including the County Council, and all their employees. The Office also provides legal defense for cases involving Montgomery County and other governmental entities which participate in the Montgomery County Self-Insurance Program (including the Board of Education for Montgomery County, Montgomery College, and the Housing Opportunities Commission) and all their employees. We are looking for a team player with strong customer service skills to assist with Code Enforcement Work. The ideal candidate will possess: Experience working in a law firm. Familiarity with receptionist duties. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. A commitment to professionalism, ethics, and client service. Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail. Ability to cope with exposure to difficult subject matters. Ability to deal with people effectively in difficult high stress circumstances. This position is being underfilled at the Administrative Aide Grade N12. Once the employee is at full performance and meets the minimum requirements of the Proficiency Advancement process, they are eligible for the non-competitive promotion through the series to the Principal Administrative Aide Grade N13. The selected individual will be responsible for: Opening matters in our work management system. Processing cash, check, and credit card payments of fines and fees. Preparing code enforcement dockets. Preparing pleadings for signature using proper grammar and format; copying, filing and mailing documents. Preparing files to be archived using office procedures. Delivering or filing documents within walking distance. Following instructions from attorneys; and other tasks requested that are within the Administrative Aide class specification. Minimum qualifications include: One (1) year of experience as an office support employee. Graduation from high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland. An equivalent of education of experience may be substituted. This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment medical review.
