Arcadis is seeking a
Construction Inspector
to join our team in Richmond, VA. In this role, you will leverage your highway construction experience to ensure construction quality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to project specifications. You will act as a liaison between contractors, engineers, and stakeholders while maintaining safety, cost control, and schedule integrity.
Role accountabilities
The primary responsibility is to inspect and ensure the quality of work on highway and roadway construction projects. This involves verifying that the completed work aligns with the project plans and specifications.
Coordinate with the contractor and various public utility agencies to ensure the smooth progress of the project.
Assist in the negotiation and preparation of contract change orders, contract estimates, progress pay estimates, and other project‑related documents and reports.
Coordinate the sampling and testing of construction materials to monitor compliance with contract specifications.
Monitor and track contractor progress and prepare regular reports, including daily, weekly, and monthly updates as needed.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of experience in roadway and highway construction inspection
VDOT certifications in asphalt, paving, concrete, or other relevant areas
Key Skills and Abilities
Expertise in highway construction methodologies, materials, and equipment; familiarity with engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes/regulations.
Proven track record in highway construction, inspection, or project management, with in‑depth knowledge of construction processes and compliance requirements.
Strong time management and prioritization to juggle multiple tasks, deadlines, and stakeholders.
Excellent verbal and written communication to interact with diverse teams and provide clear, actionable feedback.
